Synopsis:

Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) is Microsoft's new set of tools that allow developers to create and customize Office applications using Visual Studio. Microsoft has seen a lot of interest from developers in this technology, and will be encouraging the millions of VBA programmers to move to VSTO over the coming months. So far we have published two books on VSTO, but these have been written with the .NET developer in mind. This will be the first book written for the VBA developer faced with the new world of Visual Studio progamming. While VSTO provides more power and capabilities than VBA, it is also more complicated. Thus VBA programmers making the move will need a trusted guide. The authors use the formula from the other Mere Mortals books that has proven to be succesful at gently introducing complicated topics and then moving readers on to mastery of the subject. The authors have both been VBA developers, and are currently members of the VSTO team at Microsoft, so they are uniquely qualified to help others make the transition. This book supplies information on migrating VBA applications to VSTO. It also includes a look ahead at VSTO 2007 and Office 2007.
